Darren Shan and Cirque du Freak

Darren Shan’s real name is Darren O’Shaunghnessy.  Even though his family is Irish, he was born in 1972 in London.  When he was six years old, he moved to Limerick in Ireland with his family.

When he was bigger, he wanted to be a writer, so he used his spare time to write novels.  Then Darren finally finished his first novel (Mute Pursuit) at 17.

He wrote his first children’s book in 2000 and it’s called Cirque Du Freak, a book about a freak circus that looked like real.  In the book after an ordinary schoolboy Darren Shan and his friend Steve had watched that show, he met Madam Octa the spider.  But the spider’s master was not human and only dealt in blood.  Darren caught the spider and ran home.  One day, Steve went to Darren’s home and got into a terrible fate.  Madm Octa bit him.

 Only a vampire could save him.  So Darren went to the mountains to find the vampire.  At last, he found Mr Crepsley the vampire and asked him to save Steve.  Instead Mr Crepsley turned Darren and Steve into vampires….

This is a mysterious and scary story that will make your hair stands, and you will shout out loud in horror.  This is only the first episode of the boy’s dark journey to the world of horrors.
